Introducing "Acts for Christ".
Introduction:
One of the great joys of running this web site is the people that I meet
"in cyber-space", and hearing about the work that they do for our Lord.
I find this both inspiring, and very humbling.
As this web site has a focus on the live performing arts, I would like
to introduce you to a wife-and-husband team, Sheila and John Patterson.
I am sorry to say that I have never asked where they live and work,
other than I know that it is somewhere in the USA. What I am sure is
that this place is blessed to have people like this in the area.
As they don't have their own web-site, I would like to take the
opportunity (with their permission) to give their work some world-wide
publicity.

A letter from Sheila Patterson
Doug,
Thank you for all your help and time you are giving on the request to
use the play.
We do not have a web page, yet you are welcome to pass on info about us.
We are called Acts For Christ. The name is from that all we do everyday
is and should be for Christ. We are a small team with BIG hearts. We do
drama for our church, but the focus is outside the walls. It is now and
always will be an outreach ministry.
So I am constantly looking for materials that leave a deep impact and
have a strong message. I look also for a mix of humor in them. I asked
for the play you spoke of because I am looking now for Christmas
material to use for "our shelters."
There are 12 of them that we are involved in. We load up the backdrop,
the props, costumes and everything needed and go to them. The Christmas
is VERY dear to me and special to us because that's when they come to
our church as our guests and we do an evening of drama and we feed them
lots of good food and treats.
On the shelters budget, most of them don't get a lot. So I get excited
and we make big banners and posters and just a big deal. The kids are
from ages 11-18. The stories they tell are often heartbreaking. We let
them know they are SPECIAL and about how much JESUS loves them. The
response to the "altar call" for salvation, to know Him as a friend and
Lord and Savior is always overwhelming to me and each time I stand even
more amazed at God than I already am. And then He strengthens our faith
for when it becomes weak. We go back and visit with no drama to spend
time with them. We are doing some skits on March 27 in a neighborhood on
a ladies deck to try and reach some. They have regular shootings and
beatings there.
If you would, keep us in prayer. Also pray for our drama van. It needs a
new engine and we can't use it now. So we have to use more cars. The van
is great to seat 12 and to hold all our things. My husband's hours have
been cut and we are going to pay for the van repairs somehow. we just
don't know how yet, so keep that in prayer if you would.
Doug, I have to go now. If I have rambled on, I'm sorry. We had a
problem with the heating and all our walls, ceilings, curtains, and
everything is black. It's a light black, yet still black. So we're
painting and hope to be done Tuesday night.
Bless You!
Sheila
