What have we done so far?

  • 7th December 1997. "Carpenter’s Saga".
A nativity in modern setting with traditional and modern carols. Drama written by a member.
  • 1st March 1998.
Our first private worship meeting. The drama group presented some Christian comedy sketches as a part of the service.
  • 5th & 12th July 1998. "Jairus’ Daughter".
Musical by Roger Jones, based on Jesus’ healing ministry.
  • 13th & 20th September 1998. "Saints Alive".
Musical by Roger Jones, based on the Book of Acts, Ch.2.
  • 6th Dec 1998, 24th Jan & 7th Feb 1999. "Simeon".
Musical by Roger Jones, telling the story of the Nativity through Simeon's eyes.
  • 27th June & 11th July 1999. "Burning Questions".
Review by Rob Frost & team. Tells the story of the birth of the Christian church, from Genesis to Pentecost, and on the way answers eight questions commonly asked by new Christians.
  • 10th October & 12th December 1999.
    Further bookings of "Burning Questions".
  • 1st April 2000.
Roger Jones brought his new show "Snakes & Ladders" (on tour) to Camberley's High Cross Church. Roger brought his own actors, dancers & musicians for Birmingham, and conducted his own show. Revelation & other Christian singers joined to provide the backing for show.
  • 11th April 2000
Revelation took part in the "Spirit of 2000" event, at Ascot race course. Over two thousand (estimated) Christians celebrated Pentecost in a huge out-door event. Many musical and theatrical groups went on-stage that day, from Junior School dance troupes, to professional Christian Rock bands.
Revelation presented a set of quiet & spiritual Worship songs.

  • Spring and Summer 2000.
Revelation took a break while various members took part in many local productions of Rob Frost's "Hopes & Dreams".
Perhaps the largest (certainly the one consuming the most members of Revelation at once) took place at Yateley's St. Swithun's church, on behalf of Yateley Area Churches Together. There was just one performance on 1st May 2000. It was a great success and has been talked about in Yateley for many months since.
Grateful thanks to all the members of Revelation (to numerous to list here) who helped in this production.
  • 15th October & 12th November 2000. "Torn Curtain"
This was a new experience for Revelation. We took the music for "Torn Curtain" by Roger Jones, and wrote our own drama. The scenes fit in between the original songs, with only a small amount of re-ordering of those songs. Roger Jones wrote the music to lead into a service of Holy Cummunion, which we have retained as part of the presentation.
In Revelation's additional drama, two surprising travellers visit the Temple in Jerusalem (a long time ago, and far, far away). They experience the wonder of the Torn Curtain and it's life-changing significance.

  • 11th February, 4th March, and 11th March 2001
Further bookings for "Torn Curtain". On 4th March, we were pleased to have Roger Jones in the audience / congregation at Amersham Free Church. This was Roger's first hearing of the new drama, and some of us were nervous whether he would approve. To our relief and pleasure, he did.

  • 14th October, 4th & 25th November 2001
With Rob Frost's permission we revised & re-themed his ever popular revue, "Burning Questions". One sketch was removed, and some of the original music was replaced with standard popular worship songs. The new theme explores the concept of entering the heavenly throne room every time we worship. We cheekily dubbed this "BQ2", and presented it to Christchurch (Virginia Water), St Peter's (Yateley), and St Paul's (Slough).

  • 24th March, 26th May 2002
Further presentations of "Burning Questions 2" at St Peter's (Iver), and Sandhurst Methodist Church.

  • 21st July 2002. Names of God (World premiere!)
Revelation gave an informal mini-presentation of some of our "Names of God" material (written by ourselves) to St Peter's Church, Cranbourne. This was partly a thankyou for their support through the years (in providing us with an HQ). It was also a chance to try out some of the material we have been writing for this project.

  • 27th September 2002.
Revelation was invited to lead a session of modern worship for the Oxford Diocese Conference for Licensed Ministers, held at All Saints Pastoral Centre, London Colney.
The objective was to give a demonstration of music/drama worship. We presented material selected mainly from Revelation's own Names of God, but with additions from BQ2 and other shows. It was a wonderful & uplifting evening for Revelation, as well as (seemingly) for the attendees.

  • 28th September 2002.
Four members of Revelation stayed overnight in the Conference Centre and gave workshops the following morning for some of the attendees on music & drama ministry. This was a first for us, and we were very nervous about it. However, once started, it went very well, and the attendees were encouraged to mount their own mini-presentation of music & drama to each other at the end of the workshop.
The workshop handouts Revelation created for this occasion are reproduced here, and are free for anyone to read & use.

  • 8th April 2003.
Roger Jones took his new show "Wildfire!" on national tour in 2002/2003. On April 8th it was Camberley's turn (at High Cross Church). Members of Revelation helped Roger organise this leg of the tour. This involved members of several local churches who, with our own Revelation choir, formed an enormous backing choir of over 80 singers. Roger conducted us in the evening, which we all enjoyed, and feedback from the sell-out audience was very enthusiastic. See our photo gallery of pictures taken during the rehearsal that afternoon.

  • 19th October and 2nd November 2003. Apple of His eye (World premiere!)
The original intention, after "Wildfire!", was to continue the development of "Names of God". However, Jacki, our Music Director, became inspired to lead the creation of an entirely new revue. This came together quickly during Summer in a series of workshops. This went very well, and the new show went on tour in Autumn 2003, starting at Sandhuest & Yateley Methodist, then at St Peter's Yateley.
